Career Education
Year 7
In Term 3, our Year 7 students engaged in an innovative project centred around building a business by creating a food truck. This allowed the students to expand their creativity and teamwork skills to develop a business plan, design the food truck, create a menu and construct the food truck out of recycled materials.
Throughout this project, students had the opportunity to explore their passions and uncover various interests, which could lead to potential career pathways such as:
- Architect
- Product Designer
- Financial Specialist
- Builder
- Entrepreneur
The skills they developed include:
- Networking
- Teamwork
- Creativity
- Leadership
- Problem Solving
We are immensely proud of every student demonstrating our school values ‘Be Brave’ and ‘Be True’ by completing and presenting their business plans and food trucks to the class in their groups.
Year 8
In Term 3, our Year 8 students have been focusing on exploring the world of work and their place in it. To better prepare our students for the workforce, we discussed the advantages of early employment. Students crafted practice resumes, researched casual job opportunities, and participated in practice interviews with various staff members at Wollert Secondary College. These interviews focused on:
- Teamwork
- Motivation
- Problem Solving
- Strengths
- Weaknesses
It was inspiring to see all of the students engage in this exercise, willing to have another go, receive feedback and strive to improve to work towards their career, personal and educational goals.
It has been a remarkable Term 3 of Career Education, and we look forward to an equally exceptional Term 4.
