Principal's Message

We have had so much fun at ENPS and these two weeks have certainly been fabulous!
Book Week last week was such a hoot! While I embraced my inner Principal Trunchbull (from Roald Dahl’s Matilda), the costumes and literature connections across the school were remarkable! A highlight was 6AI’s performance at our assembly, presenting the 2025 Children’s Book Awards. Very clever, and a great way to bring our Book Week celebrations to a close. Thank you to everyone who got involved and to all the parent/carer helpers with the wonderful creations and outfits!
My highlight from this week was most definitely the Foundation students sharing their Chicken Fact Files with me earlier today. The students pulled out all of their persuasive devices and compelling evidenced based arguments to convince me to let them get chicken eggs at school. They are very excited to watch them hatch over the coming weeks as a part of their inquiry into the central idea; Living things need energy to survive. They were incredibly persuasive (and exceptionally cute), and I was very excited to announce today that they had indeed convinced me and their eggs will be arriving next week! Keep an eye out for their updates in our next newsletter!
As always, I loved our Thursday lunch celebrations with the School Wide Positive Behaviour token winners each week. Last week I had the joy of having lunch with Kostas (3JK), William (1NV) and Heath (2MT), and their friendsHenry, Spencer and Sotiris, while yesterday I shared lunch with Marlo (6MP), Masal (FTW) and Emily (6JD) along withtheir friends Astrid and Atlanta.
The 2026 Year Six Grad Wear uniform orders have now also opened through the PSW website, meaning 2026 is really just around the corner! The Year Fives have been thrilled to be involved in the design selection of their upcoming Year Six uniform.
Sporting Update
A huge congratulations to the 52 students from Years Three to Six who competed last Wednesday at the Essendon District Athletics Carnival. What incredible athletes we have at ENPS. We now have a number of students heading to the next round of competition at the Divisional Carnival in early September. What great examples of maximising their potential and exceeding expectations!
And what about our Senior Hoop Timers from Years Five and Six! A superb effort by both teams and their coaches to make the grand final and congratulation to the girls’ team taking out the competition!
Opinion Surveys
Thank you to the 35 families that have already completed the 2025 Parent/Carer/Guardian Opinion Survey. While only 7% of our 490 families, we would appreciate more responses and encourage all families to take a few minutes to complete this survey for us. All surveys are confidential and anonymous, and provide us with incredibly rich insights and perspectives, which we value enormously. They are also available in multiple languages! We thank you all in advance for your feedback.
2026 Planning
It is hard to believe that it is also the time of the year that we have begun planning for the next year ahead! We ask that if you and your family are planning on leaving ENPS at the end of 2025, please let the school office know as soon as you can do so. (This excludes Year Six students.) Our 2026 class structure will be determined by our student numbers so having a clear idea of our projected numbers for the new year will be integral to our planning.
As previously communicated in our last newsletter, we are also currently reviewing our school Digital Technologies whole school strategy, including our Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program. This review will impact our programs from 2026 in terms of what and how our implementation of our digital technology curriculum looks like in our middle and senior year levels. (Please see more on our BYOD review in this newsletter including your chance to have your say!)
In the coming weeks we will also be inviting parents and carers to share their perspectives in our curriculum learning and teaching framework as we review our implementation of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Program (PYP) in line with current Victorian Department of Education curriculum revisions and new directions. We look forward to sharing this feedback opportunity with our community as we value and respect your input.
Have a fabulous weekend.
