Dear Parents,

Thank you for your support yesterday with the strike action, it was an amazing demonstration of cooperation with most families finding alternate arrangements. I went home last night thinking how much I love this community and how I don’t want to work anywhere else. This community, parents, staff and children are truly remarkable. I can’t predict what will happen going forward but like you I hope that the situation is resolved sooner rather than later. It was great however to see so many teachers supporting the cause in the city. It was surely a moment that sent a strong message to the current Government. Fund our schools and our children.

FIGHT MND FUNDRASIER 

Below is a report from Summer Armstrong and Amelia Hughes our Junior School Council leaders, on last Friday’s fundraiser:

Last Friday we had our MND (Motor Neurone Disease) fundraiser where our Junior School Council representatives along with some risk-taking staff members got absolutely soaked in iced cold water, to support the big freeze challenge. We decided to do this fundraiser in honour of Neale Daniher. Neale’s courage, endless love, and tireless advocacy inspired thousands of Australians with MND. He also inspired us to do this fundraiser. 

On the day the students were aske to bring a gold coin donation for the MND foundation. We are very proud to say that our school raised $541. 

It was great to see so many people wearing blue and supporting the cause. The MND fundraiser was not just about making money; it is the awareness that we hope changes many people’s lives.

We would like to thank Phoenix, Hudson, Charles, Riley, Jai, Jacko and Rory, and one last MASSIVE thank you to all the JSC representatives for making this fundraiser come to life. 

STEPS MORNING TEA

One of the best ideas I have ever come up with is rewarding our students that get the most step ups in their grades, with a morning tea. Last week we had the morning tea and we had a ball talking about how to get steps and just eating a lot of food. Iyla Van Horick asked me why I get to eat considering I don’t actually get any step ups? It was a very good question with my only answering being, “that as Principal I get a few perks”. I do hope that the students positive experience of having morning tea encourages others to try as hard as they can in class. 

CURRICULUM DAY

I apologise for the change of the date for the curriculum day but it was due to clashes on the timetable for the junior school swimming program. The date for the curriculum day is Friday 14th of August.
