Principal's Message

What a massive week at has been for everyone here at Parkhill! This week our concert preparations ramped up further, our students had a great win at district athletics and our VSSS students lit up John Cain Arena!

District Athletics

A big thank you to Mr Sciacca, Mr Davies and all our parent volunteers who braved the grey weather and helped Parkhill along for the win at Bill Sewart reserve last Friday. I know at least two of our relay teams are heading through the division, and Parkhill brought home the shield once more. I was especially pleased to see our students cheering each other on and congratulating other competitors.

Victorian State School Spectacular

What an amazing event last Saturday was for our Year 6 students who performed in the mass dance at the Victorian State School Spectacular. Miss Smith and myself had great seats with a view of our students performing in the dances – my favourite was of course the 80's anthem “Hip to be Square”. After the matinee I was lucky enough to be involved in all the backstage experience as well – a glimpse from the students between performance break and getting ready to go onstage is below. Well done to all our students preparing for and taking part in this performance. It requires a lot of dedication, perseverance and energy, which our kids brought! Speaking of which – a big thank you to Marinda for her energy in leading the charge for Parkhill to once again be part of this wonderful event. Also thank you to our great parents for volunteering to make props and be part of the rehearsal schedule. Parkhill really shone bright this weekend!

Every day is a great day at Parkhill!

Showing up to school everyday on time matters - for your child's learning, their friendships, and their future. Even a few missed days here and there can add up quickly: those hours and minutes away from the classroom translate into lost lessons, missed moments with friends, and gaps in learning that can be hard to make up.

To put it in perspective:

Just 10 minutes late each day adds up to almost 6 hours of lost learning time over a school term.

Missing one day a fortnight means a child misses 20 days of school a year and that's 4 whole weeks of learning gone.

Even attending 90% of the time still means missing 4 weeks of school every year.

When children attend regularly, they build stronger connections with classmates, keep pace with their learning, and feel like a true part of our school community. As a school, we're here to support every family in making regular, on-time attendance possible because every day your child is at school is a day that helps set them up for success.

If you receive Compass notifications about unexplained absences, please make sure they are updated as soon as possible. You are also welcome to ring through to the office if you need help with notes for absences.
