Principal's Report

Dear Parents,

Spring is here and with it we have had some sunny days which is always great for the kids. We have also, wait for it………………had some wonderful football from the mighty Blues. May the incredible run continue tonight so that I can play the theme song again on Monday. There’s lots to do before the end of term, sorry but you will be getting a few compass updates.

DANCE CONCERT

Travel to amazing places, jungles, castles, the stars and much more! You will be on a journey when you see WYPS perform.

We are looking forward to dazzling you with our dance concert during the last week of term.

We use our hall as the venue because it means that there is no cost to parents, and the kids feel better performing where they have practiced. However, the issue with us using the hall is that it is probably about 100 seats short of what we really need. Therefore, we ask that each family minimises the amount of family members that come. If each family stuck to four at the most attending, we would still fill the hall, but we wouldn’t have people that couldn’t get in.

We ask that older siblings where possible don’t come on the junior night. They will all get to see their siblings when we run our rehearsals. We will also have teacher aides available in the library to look after siblings on both nights. We do this with the sole purpose of freeing space in the hall so that parents can come and watch.

I did count a family last year that took up 11 seats with grandparents and siblings, which I thought was really unfair on other families that couldn’t get a seat. There are no tickets or reserving seats.

The dates are:

Senior School Dance Concert Tuesday 15th of September

Junior School Dance Concert Thursday 17th of September

4:30pm start

PARENT TEACHER INTERVIEWS

Parent teacher interviews are the best way to make sure that parents are aware of their child’s progress and any commendations

or issues that should be passed on.

I always want the process to be a positive one where students are being praised for the wonderful efforts they are putting in, while goals for the rest of the year should also be discussed.

ANDREA HAGAR

Our brilliant business manager Nat Potter has gone off to have baby number two, and we wish her well on her maternity leave. I promise to send you baby photos once the new addition arrives.

Finding a business manager as a replacement maybe the hardest thing to do in education. Therefore, we struck gold when we were able to find Andrea to replace Nat while she is on maternity leave. Andrea (Andy) is an experienced Business Manager and has worked at a number of other schools.

We welcome Andrea to the Woori family and wish her well while she is with us.

Only two weeks of the school term left.

Please remember that when life becomes difficult, escape to the wonderful world of a book. Or you could read the paper in the morning, turn to the sport section and be dazzled that the Blues have gone so far after starting so badly. We all love a Cinderella story but I’m loving this one the most.
