We are very excited to be welcoming American basketball import, Jalin Wimberly! Jalin is a professional basketballer who has recently completed his college career, playing for Andrew College (Junior College) where he received player of the year and is a Hall of Famer. Jalin has also played for Reinhardt University (NAIA) and Purdue University Fort Wayne, Division 1. Jalin will be helping out during LSA skills sessions and the morning basketball training sessions, sharing his knowledge from the professional basketball world with our students. We are lucky to have him visiting the college, welcome Jalin!
Lowanna College – Pacific Team Sports
The Lowanna College Sports Academy uniform can be purchased online by using the above link. If there are any problems with the garments, please contact the PTS Team who will be able to assist you.
If students would like to try on sizes before purchasing the uniform, we have some samples in the training tops and shorts.
Please note that the youth tops are very small (similar to kids sizes) so please check this before buying.
Note: It is recommended that students put their FIRST NAME or SURNAME on the back of the training tops.
Shop the latest from Nike Teamwear from Pacific Team Sports. Get kitted up today. The world’s best teams deserve the world’s best apparel.
These sessions run for senior students and selected students only.
The selected student groups have been chosen by our coaches - we do have the ability to add and remove students from these groups at our discretion. There may be some students that we do not know well yet and we may have the capacity to add them into the sessions where possible.
Note: These are extra training sessions and are not part of the standard LSA timetable.
Session Times
AFL - Tuesday 7.30am
Basketball- Wednesday 7.30am
Students are expected to arrive at 7.15am for a 7.30am start.
Training sessions will be included on students Compass calendar and permission must be provided to allow students to participate.
It is expected that all students have a MyZone Heart Rate Monitor. New Academy students in Year 8 or above are expected to buy theirs from the General Office for $85. They are used in most lessons, especially in Year 7/8 and all Year 9/10 fitness sessions, so it is important that students bring them for ALLsessions.
All students have been given a diary, which we expect them to take to every class. The diary is a great learning tool, and we would love parents to take an interest in their homework, learning tasks and all other activities/events happening at the college.

1/4/25 – Athletics Carnival
During Week 4, students participated in the first interschool sport for 2025 with a Senior Boys cricket team and an Intermediate Girls and Boys team participating. The Senior Boys competed first, starting strong and winning against Warragul Regional College. They unfortunately fell short against a talented Marist Sion College. Our Intermediate Boys competed against both Drouin Secondary College and Warragul Regional College, winning both games and advancing to the Gippsland Round. Our Intermediate Girls played Super 8s, playing Warragul Regional College and Drouin Secondary College, also winning both games and advancing to the Gippsland Round with the boys. Well done to all students who played on the day.
Year 9 LSA student, Brady Cake, has been playing representative cricket for the Latrobe Valley U15s team. In a recent game, Brady showed his talent after bowling 6/32 in 10 overs against Sale-Maffra CA GCL. He has also been selected for the Gippsland Team of the Year. Well done Brady!
Year 11 student, Darcy Walsh, bowled 7/2 including a hat-trick from 4.4 overs in one of his recent matches playing for Willow Grove against the Combined Saints. Well done Darcy!
Our new Year 7 cohort enjoyed programming their heart rate/exercise intensity monitors recently. The MyZone belts are used in all practical classes to give real time feedback to our student athletes.
Well done to Year 9 LSA student, Kayla Pearless, who recently played in the Colac Basketball Tournament and received MVP after their win in the Grand Final!
Last Thursday we had a number of students represent Lowanna College at the West Gippsland Swimming tournament, with many students being successful on the day. Well done to Indy Reid, Zane Poxon and Darcy Connell who received multiple first and second place ribbons as well as our Junior Boys Relay Team who placed second and will also be heading to the Gippsland Round on the 13th of March. We wish all students who advanced to the next stage all the best.
Last Wednesday our LSA students completed fitness testing, which was facilitated by Rookie Me. This was a great opportunity for students to be tested in a high-performance environment and compare their rankings with other athletes in their age group across the country.
Thank you to Matt Runnalls from Mindfull Aus who has just returned from a speaking tour in the U.S.A. and has once again given us access to their Wellness Hub.
