IN THE CLASSROOM

Term 2 Learning Recap

What an incredible, action-packed term it has been! Our classrooms have been buzzing with curiosity, creativity, and a lot of hard work. From mastering new math strategies to exploring scientific wonders, our students in both the K–2 and 3–6 rooms have truly excelled.

Here is a look back at what our amazing students achieved in Term 2 across our school.

K–2 Classroom Update

Our youngest learners spent the term building foundational skills, exploring their imagination, and developing great teamwork.

  • English: We focused on building confident readers and emerging writers. Students loved diving into rich picture books, practicing their daily phonics, and delving into writing their own texts.

  • Mathematics: Mathematics was all about practical concepts this term. Students explored Length, Area, Time, and Position, while also sharpening their skills in Addition and dipping their toes into the concept of Chance.

  • Religious Education: Students explored the joy of the Easter season and learned to spot the many beautiful signs of God’s love in their daily lives and the world around them.
  • Science: Budding scientists investigated different materials, looking closely at their unique properties and observing how they can change when mixed, heated, or cooled.

  • HSIE (Geography): With a focus on stewardship, the class looked at our local environment and learned about the vital importance of looking after water in our community.
  • CAPA (Drama): Imagination took center stage in Drama, where students used expressions and movement to bring different characters and stories to life.
  • PDHPE: In PDH, students explored the units "About Me" and "Safe You, Safe Me," building self-awareness and learning about personal safety. On the field, they laced up their sneakers for Athletics, practicing their running, jumping, and throwing skills.

3–6 Classroom Update

In the primary classroom, students stepped up to new challenges, pushed their critical thinking skills, and took great pride in their independent learning.

  • English: Students dived deep into characterisation and narrative writing this term. They learned how to effectively use character dialogue to make their texts interesting. They also developed skills in digital visualisation to bring their settings and characters to life.

  • Mathematics: Students tackled complex concepts this term, strengthening their Addition and Subtraction strategies, while also mastering Fractions, analysing Data, reading Time, and measuring Angles.

  • Religious Education: The class deepened their faith reflections by studying Easter: A Time for New Hope, New Life, followed by a unit on Pentecost: Celebrating the Presence of the Holy Spirit.
  • Science: Things got energetic in Science as students investigated forces, conducting experiments to explore the invisible power of Forces and the basics of Electricity.
  • HSIE (History): Students took a step back in time to explore the gritty history of the Australian colonies and the chaotic, exciting era of the Gold Rush.
  • CAPA: In Drama, students worked on collaboration, script-reading, and performance, building their confidence in front of an audience.

  • PDHPE: Resilience was the core theme in PDH, where students discussed strategies for Coping with Challenges and managing stress. In PE, they hit the oval to refine their techniques and fitness in Athletics.
