PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

Lindy Burke

As we approach the end of another busy term, it’s hard to believe how quickly the weeks have flown by. There has been plenty happening across the school, with students continuing to learn, grow and make the most of the many opportunities on offer. It has been wonderful to see the enthusiasm, effort and positive spirit our students bring to school each day.

This newsletter contains important information regarding upcoming events, student-led conferences and staffing updates for Term 3. I encourage all families to take a few moments to read through the newsletter and stay informed about the many exciting things happening at Echuca East.

Parent-Teacher Interviews / Student-Led Conferences will take place on Thursday 25 June. This is a student-free day; however, students are expected to attend with their parents or carers for their scheduled conference.  This day provides an important opportunity for students to take the lead in sharing their learning journey, reflecting on their progress, and celebrating their achievements so far this year.  We strongly encourage every family to book an interview, as these conversations are a vital part of supporting student growth and success.

Bookings are now open via the Sentral Parent Portal.

As a reminder, due to the AEU industrial action earlier this term, written comments will not be included on the semester 1 student reports. The Student-Led Conference will therefore play an especially important role in providing families with valuable feedback about their child's learning and progress.

We look forward to seeing you all throughout the day.

Term 3 Staffing update:

As we look ahead to Term 3, I would like to inform our community of some staffing changes.

At the end of this term, we will be saying goodbye to Travis Johnson, who has accepted a position at another school. While we are sad to see Travis leave, we thank him for his dedication and the positive impact he has had on our students and school community during his time at Echuca East. We wish him every success and happiness in this next chapter of his career.

As every cloud has a silver lining, we are delighted to welcome Amy Walton back to our teaching team. Amy will be sharing the 5/6B classroom with Caity Sim in Term 3. Amy and Caity are both highly experienced and much-loved members of our staff.

Importantly, this change will allow for a smooth transition into Semester 2, with students continuing to be supported by two highly experienced Level 4 teachers who know our school, our students, and the curriculum exceptionally well. Their combined expertise, strong relationships with students, and commitment to high-quality teaching will ensure that 5/6B remains a positive, engaging, and successful learning environment.

I am confident that 5/6B will be in very capable hands, and I look forward to seeing the wonderful learning opportunities that Amy and Caity will provide in the coming months.

Sutton Street Toilet Block:

The Sutton Street toilet block is on track and should be ready for use at the start of Term 3. They are looking fantastic!

A significant investment has been made in these new facilities to provide our students with modern, clean and safe amenities. It is therefore disappointing when the actions of a small number of students impact the experience for everyone. We kindly ask that families continue to remind their child/ren about the importance of using the toilets respectfully and responsibly. These shared spaces are an important part of our school environment, and we appreciate your support in reinforcing these positive behaviours at home.

I have attached our SWPBS toilet behaviour expectations poster to assist in supporting and reinforcing these expectations with your child/ren.

As always, thank you for your continued partnership in supporting our students to learn, grow and thrive
