We wish to acknowledge our students who competed in the Western Metropolitan Region Track and Field Carnival which was held on Tuesday 17th October at Keilor Park Athletics track. What an accomplishment to get through to this elite level of competition. Here is a rundown of the event written by Madi, Felix and Harry from 4TC and Hugo from 4MS. We will hear from our Year 5 competitors next week after the camp.
On Tuesday the 18th of October, a small group of students represented our school at the Regional Athletics Carnival at Keilor Athletics Centre. It was a great day for sport, not too hot or too cold although it did warm up later in the day. Everyone started off feeling both nervous and excited. Firstly, Madi competed in triple jump, and she achieved her PB of 7.8m. She competed against 17 other girls. Next, Felix ran in the 200m sprint. He was competing against 14 other boys and came in 5th place. Harry also had triple jump, he came in 6th place out of 12 other boys. He achieved his PB of 7.58m. Another one of our Grade 4 achievements was Hugo in 4MS who represented our school in shot put. The competition was tough and Hugo put the shot at around the 7 metre mark.
One of the highlights was also being able to see and chat to friends from other schools. Unfortunately, no one from FWPS qualified for the next round of state athletics. Regardless of the results, everyone had a fun experience and felt that we achieved personal success.
Appreciations to our families for taking us to and from the event.
