Term 4 in the Art Room

Welcome back to Term Four in the Art room!

This term in Prep we are studying two artists - Edward Munch and Claude Monet. Prep students are currently creating their own version of "The Scream" using oil pastels. This project allows them to explore the technique of blending with oil pastels.

After this they will be focussing on Claude Monet. They will be reimagining the Japanese footbridge using acrylic painting. But here's the twist: instead of brushes, students will be using cardboard to create this masterpiece.

In addition to these, our Prep students will also look at colour theory. They will be crafting a "Colour Wheel Character," learning about primary, secondary, and tertiary colours.

Grade One to Grade Five students have been inspired by the art of Pierre Bonnard, whose work recently exhibited at the National Gallery of Victoria! Our Grade One to Grade Five students have been putting in a massive amount of effort to create some brilliant still life fruit bowls (stay tuned to the newsletter in the next few weeks for some photos!).

As we approach the end of the year, our students will be exploring quilling. This art form involves the use of strips of paper that are rolled, shaped and glued together to create a decorative design. The grand finale of the year will see our students crafting emojis using this art form.

This term the Grade Sixes are continuing to create three dimensional papier mache self-portraits. These will be displayed at graduation. The students have been working extremely hard. Here’s a little sneak peak!!!

Donations: If anybody has any old school uniforms that they would like to donate to the Grade Six graduation project please see Susie.  We are looking for shirts, school dresses and bomber jackets.

Thanks everyone!
