Year 7 and 8

As we come to the end of another busy and rewarding year at Sunbury College, we would like to thank all our parents and carers for their ongoing support. Your involvement throughout the year has played a vital role in helping our students thrive both inside and outside the classroom.
Term 4 has been particularly eventful for our Junior School students. Our Year 7 cohort participated in a 'Menstrual Health and Pelvic Pain' education session, an important incursion aimed at building knowledge, reducing stigma, and empowering young people to better understand their bodies and wellbeing. Students learned practical strategies for managing pain, identifying symptoms, and seeking support when needed.
Year 8 students took part in the Arrive and Thrive careers information program, which focused on helping them understand their strengths, explore future pathways, and build the foundational skills needed as they move through secondary school. The session encouraged students to think about goal-setting, employability skills, and the importance of a positive mindset as they look ahead to senior years and life beyond school.
Our school-wide SWPBS (School Wide Positive Behaviour Support) framework continues to recognise and celebrate the positive behaviours of our students, with many students rewarded for demonstrating our values through 'Green Posts' and $5 canteen vouchers. It has been wonderful to see so many students consistently showing respect, responsibility, and effort in their learning and interactions.
We also congratulate our VHAP (Victorian High-Ability Program) participants. Four students took part in the Mathematics program, extending their problem-solving, reasoning, and analytical skills through challenging online enrichment work. Two students completed the English program, where they explored advanced literary analysis, creative thinking, and worked closely with peers from schools across Victoria. Their commitment to taking on additional learning has been outstanding.
The excitement for the Year 7 Funfields excursion on 5th December was great to see — it was a fantastic opportunity for students to celebrate the year and enjoy a day of fun and connection with their peers.
The last few weeks also marked the beginning of Headstart, where students commenced their 2026 timetable. It is always an exciting, and sometimes nerve-wracking, period as students adjust to new teachers, subjects, and routines. Headstart is an important part of supporting students to build resilience, confidence, and a positive mindset as they step forward into the next stage of their learning.
We are incredibly proud of everything our Junior School students have achieved this year and look forward to an even bigger and brighter year ahead. Thank you again to our families for your continued partnership and support.
Warm regards
Junior School Team
