In Our Classrooms

Year 4 Passion Projects
On Wednesday 10th December, Hazel Glen College held the Year 4 Passion Project expo. Parents and students came into our classrooms to see the amazing creations accompanied by their digital presentations. Students made many different designs, from crochet to cardboard soccer stadiums to baking. We are very impressed with their hard work and dedication to their individual passions.
International Day of Persons with Disabilities
On Wednesday 3rd of December, Hazel Glen College held the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. Students came into Learning Neighbourhood 1 and participated in a Senses Scavenger Hunt where they went around the College searching for strong smells, something bumpy and bright colours.
Students also wrote in different ways that mimicked the loss of sense. During our weekly PEP lesson, students learnt about Braille and discovered more about disabilities and people who live with them. Students learnt that disabilities can be seen and can be unseen and that everyone is unique and that is the beauty of it. We are proud to be spreading awareness and striving towards a more inclusive environment that celebrates diversity.
Primary Years Sports Update
We’ve had an action-packed few weeks in the sporting arena, with our students displaying outstanding teamwork, determination, and College spirit. Here’s a look at some of the exciting achievements across the college.
Year 4 Hoop Time Basketball – State Finalists!
Our Year 4 Hoop Time Basketball Team proudly represented Hazel Glen College at the State Finals. The team showed incredible grit and enthusiasm on the court, finishing the day with a fantastic win in one of their matches. Their hard work, positivity, and sportsmanship made the whole College proud. Congratulations to all players and thank you to our coaches and supporters for helping them reach this incredible milestone.
Year 6 Hoop Time Basketball – A Remarkable Run
The Year 6 Hoop Time Basketball Team also made their mark at the State Finals. In an impressive show of skill and teamwork, they won all their pool games, securing a place in the finals series. Despite a strong effort, the team was narrowly defeated in the semi-final. Their journey to the top tier of the competition is an achievement in itself, and we commend them for their dedication and the exciting performances that had us cheering all day long!
Junior Primary Athletics Carnival – McGrath House Triumphs
The Junior Primary Athletics Carnival was a colourful and energetic day filled with running races, novelty events, cheering, and smiles all around. Our young athletes gave their very best, showing resilience and encouragement for their peers. After an exciting tally of points, McGrath House emerged as the overall champion! Congratulations to all participants for making the day such a success, and a big well done to McGrath House for their outstanding performance. We have a new plaque that will be displayed in the Primary Year Office, with the winning House to be engraved on it each year.
We are incredibly proud of all our students for the way they represented Hazel Glen College—with pride, perseverance, and positivity. We look forward to even more sporting achievements in the years to come!
