2026 Sacramental Dates

The dates for the 2026 Sacraments have been finalised. An email will be sent to all Year 2 and above families so everyone has the latest information. Some children have been Baptised since beginning at Holy Trinity and are now ready to continue their Sacramental journey.

In St Jude’s Parish and at Holy Trinity, students currently receive their Sacraments in the following order: -

Sacrament of First Reconciliation –Year 3

Sacrament of First Eucharist (Holy Communion) –Year 4

Sacrament of Confirmation –Year 6

Preparation for each Sacrament takes place during Religious Education lessons with the classroom teachers. Students also complete follow-up activities at home and participate in a Family Workshop as part of their preparation.

Please note that next year’s Sacramental Program has changed slightly. It is compulsory for at least one parent to attend both workshops for each Sacrament their child is undertaking.

Each Sacrament includes two workshops:

• The first workshop is for parents only.

• The second workshop and Commitment Mass are to be attended by the child receiving the Sacrament and at least one parent.

Families will not be able to book a place for their child to receive the Sacrament unless they have attended both workshops and completed any associated tasks.

2025 Jubilee (Pilgrims of Hope)

What is the 2025 Jubilee?

The term “Jubilee” comes from the Hebrew term “yobel,” which means “ram’s horn.” In Jewish tradition, the sound of the horn marked the beginning of a particular year of remission and forgiveness. The Catholic Church adopted this tradition and made it a year of pilgrimage, prayer, and reconciliation.

What is the History of the Jubilee?

The first Jubilee of the Catholic Church was proclaimed by Pope Boniface VIII in 1300. Since then, the Church has celebrated a Jubilee every 25 years unless the Pope decides to call an extraordinary Jubilee, as Pope Francis did in 2015.

Why is 2025 a Holy Year for the Catholic Church?

The official Vatican website for the Holy Year 2025 — www.iubilaeum2025.va — says, “In 1300, Pope Boniface VIII called the first Jubilee, also known as a ‘Holy Year,’ since it is a time when God’s holiness transforms us.” The Jubilee is a time of forgiveness and reconciliation, with pilgrims worldwide flocking to Rome to celebrate the event. It is also a time of renewal and spiritual awakening, with the Pope and other religious leaders offering prayers, blessings, and ceremonies.
