Devotion

Today is an exciting day for our Year 5 and 6 children and teachers, one that is filled with nerves and some hard to have feelings. It is also a day where we get to see St Paul children put their brave in front, step out of their comfort zones and really shine as they perform on stage at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre.

Making new friends, moving class, standing up to or for a friend, speaking in front of the school, performing on stage or taking that important penalty in a game of soccer are all moments that can see us feeling scared, worried, nervous and many other hard to have feelings. Being brave or courageous isn't the absence of these feelings. It is having these feelings and then putting our brave in front and doing the right thing.

At St Paul we have lots of friends and staff to support them in these difficult moments. We also know through God's word in the bible that He is here to support us in these tricky moments as well.

In Joshua 1:9 we hear God speak to us:

"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go."

We know our Year 5 and 6 children will feel your support today and tonight as they step onto the stage for the Schools Challenge and we pray they feel God's calming presence with them at this time of excitement and nerves. I pray that all in our school community will feel God with them as they go about their week, granting them strength and courage and helping them to put their brave in front.
