We would like to inform families that industrial action is scheduled for next Tuesday, 24 March. This action has been organised by the Australian Education Union (AEU) as part of ongoing discussions with the Victorian Government around teacher workload, pay, and conditions.
In towns along the NSW - Victoria border, schools are facing a growing challenge: many of our best teachers are being attracted to higher pay and incentives across the border in New South Wales.
At Echuca East Primary School, we want to keep our talented teachers in our classrooms because we know that consistent, experienced teachers make a real difference in your child’s learning and wellbeing. Industrial action highlights the need for fair and competitive pay and better work conditions so that schools like ours can continue to retain great staff and provide the high-quality education your children deserve.
By supporting our teachers, we are supporting your children -ensuring they have the continuity, expertise, and care that helps them thrive every day.
As a result, there will be significant disruption to our normal school operations, and not all classes will be running on Tuesday. We are currently working through staffing arrangements and will provide further information to families on Monday, once staffing has been confirmed.
We understand that this may be challenging for some families, yet we very much appreciate your support and understanding. Where possible, we encourage parents and carers to consider alternative arrangements for their children on this day. More information to come on Monday.
Ride to School Day – Today!
Today we are celebrating Ride to School Day! It’s fantastic to see so many of our students riding, walking, scooting or skating to school and starting their day in a healthy and active way.
A big thank you to families for supporting this initiative and helping to promote safe and active travel. Please remember to continue encouraging safe practices, including wearing helmets and taking care around roads and crossings.
We hope everyone enjoys the energy and excitement that Ride to School Day brings to our school community!

NAPLAN Completion – Well Done!
Congratulations to our Year 3 and Year 5 students on the successful completion of NAPLAN. We are incredibly proud of the way students approached the assessments with focus, resilience, and a positive attitude.
A big thank you also to our staff and families for their support throughout the testing period. Well done to all involved!
