High Potential and Gifted Education

Robotics Club

There are many extracurricular clubs and teams running at Camden High School, which aim to challenge students in areas of interest. These clubs allow students to explore their interests, meet like minded students and challenge themselves.

One such club, which is new to Camden in 2023, is the Robotics Team. Our small team of six have been meeting regularly to build knowledge in the different areas of robotics including coding, design and development.

At the end of Term two, we were lucky enough to have the robotics team from Abbotsleigh High School pay us a visit, with their most recent robot built entirely from scratch. The team explained the mechanics of their robots, demonstrated its functionality and answered all of our many, many questions. It was very interesting to learn how the team had designed, problem solved and built their robot specifically for the First State Challenge competition.

Camden High School hope to join Abbotsleigh High School, among others, in a national competition in the near future. For now, the team are gathering the necessary tools to design and build their first robot for a specific purpose. The team are developing their creative and critical thinking skills, as well as their communication and team work. If Camden High School are to be successful participants in upcoming robotics competitions, they will need to be a highly functional and productive team.

If students are interested in joining the Robotics Team, we meet on Wednesdays at lunch time (second break) in the F Block Seminar Room (upstairs).
