STAR Class

The STAR class is a trade transition class for Year 10 students who are looking to transition out of school into traineeships and apprenticeships. The students attend school for three days a week where they learn Science, Maths, English/History, and PDHPE which are they Key Learning Areas required for attaining their Record of School Achievement (ROSA) Certificate.

Students in the STAR class spend the other days of the week engaged at various stage 5 TAFE courses, and out honing their skills at various workplaces. This year, students have completed work experience in childcare, retail, automotive, electrical, landscaping, construction, and lawnmowing and maintenance.

The students have been hard at work this term completing their final assessments for school. In addition to gaining work skills that will assist them in making a successful transition into the workplace. Writing resumés, job hunting, and learning and practising workplace numeracy and literacy is an integral part of the STAR program, and will no doubt serve the students well in the future.

We have recently had two of our students successful in attaining childcare traineeships and one student successful in attaining a landscaping apprenticeship, which is a great success for the STAR program. A huge congratulations to these students! Other students have got the wheels in motion for a successful transition into the workforce in various industries, and Camden High will continue to support these students in achieving their goals. What a pleasure it has been to teach such a wonderful, hardworking, and dedicated group of students in obtaining employment goals. Mr Wallace is sure going to miss them when they leave!
