Reflection
The Fourth Sunday in Advent - LOVE -22nd Dec
As we light the fourth candle on the Advent wreath, we are reminded of the profound love that lies at the heart of the Christmas story. This Sunday calls us to reflect on the boundless and transformative love of God, revealed in the gift of His Son, Jesus Christ.
The Advent season is a journey toward the manger in Bethlehem, where love is not just spoken but embodied. In John 3:16, we hear the words, "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." This sacrificial love bridges the gap between heaven and earth, a love that reaches out to humanity in its brokenness, offering redemption and hope.
The love of Advent is not passive; it is active and transforming. It is a love that calls us to action, to reflect Christ’s light in our lives. As Mary said "yes" to God’s plan, risking misunderstanding and hardship, we too are called to embrace God’s love and share it with the world. This love moves us to care for the lonely, the marginalised, and the hurting, reflecting the compassion of Christ.
Advent is a season of waiting, but it is not a passive waiting. It is a time to prepare our hearts, to make room for Christ’s love to dwell deeply within us. As we wait for the celebration of His birth, we also anticipate His second coming, striving to live in a way that honors the love He has shown us.
PRAYER - Advent
Heavenly Father,
thank You for the gift of Your Son,
the greatest expression of love the world has ever known.
Help us to embody Your love in our words and actions,
and prepare our hearts
to receive Him anew this Christmas.
Amen.
