Specialist Subjects

OASIS - Jess Widdicombe & Amy Curnow
This term, students will explore the daily and seasonal changes in the weather and the environment and how it can affect the decisions we make each day. We’ll continue to be in the garden each week working on our gardening skills – weeding, watering, composting and planting. Reminder, students can wear their sports uniform when they have OASIS.
- Tuesday – Foundation D and Foundation W
- Wednesday – Foundation M and Foundation BA
Art - Cherise Le Brocq-Joppich
Students will continue to make artworks using different materials and techniques that express their imagination. They will explore painting with primary colours and focus on the art elements of shape, colour, line and texture.
Science - Jess Widdicombe
This term, students will focus on chemical science as we explore the observable properties of objects. Using the story, “The 3 Little Pigs” students will consider the materials used and then extend their new learnings to design a house the little pigs could have built based on their understanding of the properties of materials.
Music - Stacie Mason
Students will start reading and writing music on the stave – the five lines and four spaces music is written on. They will explore this concept through singing, games, movement and playing instruments.
Students will learn and practice two notes – ‘so’ and ‘mi’ – on the stave.
Indonesian – Bu Jaqui
This term, students will continue to practice and build on their Indonesian vocabulary including number, colour and greetings covered in Term 3. They will also begin to learn the words for various animals and use them in written and spoken activities and games. Students will be encouraged to use Indonesian as modelled by Bu Jacqui and praised when they attempt to use the language.
PE – Luke Freeman and Class Teachers
Students will prepare for their Mini Athletics Morning and participate in swimming lessons, focusing on water safety and stroke efficiency. During PE lessons, they will continue to develop their fundamental movement skills, including running, jumping, leaping, throwing, rolling, and catching. The term will conclude with cooperative games designed to build spatial awareness, promote safe and fair play, and strengthen students’ ability to work collaboratively.
Health
In the first week, the Foundation students have been learning about the people in our community that can keep us safe. Teachers, Paramedics, Police, Firefighters, Doctors, Farmers and more! We are even lucky enough to have a visit from some of these special people!
