Showcase of Learning

Year 1 Blue

Year 1 Blue were excited to present their learning during Chapel this week, sharing a snapshot of what they have been exploring in both Literacy and Devotions.

In Literacy, students have been learning about verbs, discovering that they are action words. They brought this concept to life through actions and a fun song to help reinforce their understanding. They also shared their learning about writing super sentences, explaining that these need to include a capital letter, full stop, finger spaces, be about something meaningful, and make sense.

Drawing on their class text Super Pug, students proudly shared their own super sentences and challenged the audience to listen carefully and spot the verbs.

In Devotions, Year 1 Blue reflected on James 1:22, learning that God calls us not just to hear His Word, but to be ‘doers’ of His word in our everyday lives.

It was a joyful and engaging presentation, and Year 1 Blue should be very proud of the way they shared their learning with confidence and enthusiasm.

Performing Arts Afternoon

A reminder that you are invited to attend our Performing Arts afternoon on Monday 30 March in the gym to see what the Band and Dance students have been working on this term. It begins at 2.30pm and will end by 3.00pm. The school Senior Band will also be performing during the afternoon. Students who only just joined the instrumental program in 2026, are not performing, only the Senior Band.

If you could please pack sports uniform for the dance students to change into for the performance on Monday.  If they have jazz shoes, they can pack those as well. Otherwise, the dance students will be fine to dance in bare feet.

Afternoon tea will be provided.

For any questions, please contact Mrs Ruthie Britton Performing Arts Coordinator via email on r.britton@hpcs.nsw.edu.au.

Easter Chapel and Easter Hat Parade

Our Easter Chapel this year will be held on Thursday 2 April at 1.30pm. The Easter Hat Parade will follow directly after the Easter Chapel service in the school gym.

We will aim to be finished by 3.00pm. This will be a very special time for our school community and all families are invited to join us!

Kindly note, we've had to adjust the timing of our event this year, due to an event at Church so thank you in advance for your understanding.

As part of our Easter celebrations, students will be designing and constructing Easter hats to bring to school for a parade. We encourage all students to participate, designing hats that symbolise this time of the year.

There will be three categories for prizes that students in each class can win:

Most Robustly Constructed Easter Hat

Most Creatively Themed Easter Hat

Most Symbolic Easter Hat

An Easter bake sale will be operating with both cash and EFTPOS accepted.

A reminder that there will be NO BUSES operating this afternoon.

Thank you for all your support and we hope this time is a blessing to you and your family.

Farewell to Mrs Brenda Jones (ELC Director)

Many of our students would have attended our preschool before coming to our school and would likely have been taught by Mrs Brenda Jones.

It is with both deep gratitude and a sense of sadness that we share the news that our Early Learning Centre Director, Mrs Brenda Jones has made the decision to step down from her role after 15 years of extraordinary leadership and service.

Over the past decade and a half, Brenda has been far more than a leader of our Preschool, she has been a builder of culture, a nurturer of people, and a steady, guiding presence in the lives of so many children, families, and staff.

Brenda cares deeply about every child and her commitment to ensuring a safe and positive environment for each child, has been a hallmark of her leadership. Her 15 years of faithful leadership is a remarkable legacy. It represents thousands of moments of care, countless decisions made with wisdom and integrity, and an unwavering commitment to the wellbeing and growth of the students.

Thousands of children have passed through our ELC and carry with them fond memories of Brenda’s care and support. While we will greatly miss her presence, we are incredibly thankful for the foundation she has laid, leaving our ELC in a position of great health.

As Brenda steps into her next adventure, she does so with our gratitude, honour, and very best wishes. We are confident she will continue to lead with the same passion, care, and spirit of excellence that have defined her time with us.

Please join us in thanking her for her outstanding contribution and in wishing her every blessing in the next chapter ahead. Brenda’s last day with students will be at the end of the term and she is officially finishing up on Friday 17 April.

We invite families to leave a message in Brenda's digital farewell card. Please scan the QR code in the above graphic to sign.

Please pray that God would bring the right person to lead our ELC into the future.
