From the Principal

The Principal’s Bulletin will be emailed to all families throughout 2026 in order to maintain strong and relevant contact between the College and the families.  Students are also encouraged to read the Bulletins and search for their photograph and Marvellous Monicans.

The purpose of Principal’s Bulletins is to ensure that events are explained, advertised and celebrated.  A variety of topics appear regularly and always the Executive Deputy Principal and the Assistant Principals (aka Campus Directors) contribute their articles of interest.  I am also able to share ideas and thoughts with readers as the lead article.  In this first edition for 2026, I have published the contextual statement for our beautiful 2026 College Theme, Faith.

I hope that all families will make the effort to read each edition.  Data from last year indicates opportunities to receive communication are lost when readers fail to take the time to open their email.

Welcome to another year of Monican life, the sixty-second year of what is superior and committed Catholic secondary education for the young people of Melbourne’s northern suburbs.  We stand ready and prepared with staff of high quality and great enthusiasm, a curriculum that is contemporary and focussed on success, excellent and modern resources, a great student/teacher ratio offering plenty of time for rapport to grow between teacher and student.

School fees are a necessary component of membership of this College community, and our Fees Office is on hand to work collaboratively with families as financial obligations are met.  Levies and set fees comprise the 2026 school fee schedule.

It is my expectation, supported by staff and actively enforced by parents, that student behaviour will be appropriate to ensure effective learning and community-building; that wearing the uniform appropriately, neatly and in accordance with rules will be followed by all students; that deportment, demeanour and language will apply to the highest standards.

Throughout the year we shall continue to mail home The Monican on six occasions, and a College Annual at end-of-year will be published.  Remember that we have email, we post on Instagram, Facebook exists, and there is always the telephone.  Please abide by recent Government regulations prohibiting access to many social media platforms by those under sixteen years of age.  Parents can seek help from teachers if battling resistance enforcing this regulation.

There is an exciting air of expectancy at the College as 2026 commences, and this will continue, increase and give pleasure when students, parents and staff work together, when we all pray and persevere.
