Principal Report

Dear Families,
What a beautiful weekend it was in Ballarat with ANZAC Day services and the Ballarat Marathon dominating the streets. Thank you to the families who attended the Arch of Victory Service with our Student Leaders. It was a beautiful service and our leaders represented Dana Street confidently and with pride.
Head Lice
Over the past term, we have had a number of families reporting that their child has had head lice. We are updating our permissions for all students to consent to head lice inspections at school. Even if you do not consent to physical inspections, per Department of Education policy, if we visually detect eggs or lice, we will notify families.
Head lice do not transmit infectious diseases – they are transmitted by having head-to-head contact with someone who has head lice. Head lice are common in school-aged children and are the most adaptable of creatures. They have survived living solely on humans for 10,000 years!
We seek your cooperation in checking your child’s hair and, in those instances where head lice or eggs are found, treating your child’s hair. Please visit www.betterhealth.vic.gov.au and search for “head lice (nits)” for advice on finding, treating and preventing head lice. If lice are found, please notify the school so that we are able to communicate with families.
Foundation Tours and Enrolments
This week, we completed our 2027 Foundation tours. It is such a privilege to work with Miss Kylie and the Student Leaders to talk about our wonderful school. The feedback from the families attending the tour was overwhelmingly positive. 2027 Foundation enrolments are now open. If you have a sibling attending next year, please submit your forms to the front office.
Mother’s and Special Persons’ Community Morning
We are really looking forward to our Community Morning next week, celebrating all of the wonderful mothers and special people in our lives. Please look out for the link later in the newsletter to purchase your bacon and egg roll. We will also be opening our classrooms to visitors from 9.00-930. We look forward to seeing many of you there.
Have a wonderful week,
Helen
