Principal Report

Dear Families,

This week, we have begun our Authentic Actions in our Junior Unit. Today, it was a packed house at assembly. We had our Foundation Superheros present to us what they had learnt about being healthy. Our Foundation students know that to have healthy bodies, we need to eat fruits and vegetables, exercise, and get lots of sleep.

Yesterday afternoon, Year 1/2 Students opened their Nutritious Cafe - Where snacks meet facts! Families were treated not only to a number of nutritious cafe treats, but also to interesting facts that accompanied them. There was a line out the front door waiting for the cafe, and families were also treated to a yoga session in the wellness room. Our little chefs had a wonderful time sharing their knowledge with others. We look forward to our Senior Unit Authentic Actions next week.

Assessment, Reporting and Student-Led Interviews

This morning, a Sentral message was sent to all families regarding the reports and Student-Led Conferences for next week. Next Tuesday, our reports will be available on Sentral, and Wednesday is a Pupil-Free Day, but students are expected to attend the Student-Led Conferences with their parents.

Last Day of Term and First Day of Term 3

Friday, 26th June, is our final day for Term 2. Students will be dismissed at 2.30 pm.

The first day for students next term is Tuesday, 14th July. Staff will be participating in a Curriculum Day on Monday, focused on the teaching of Mathematics.

Mary Poppins Jr.

This weekend, we have four very talented students performing in the Ballarat Centre of Music and the Arts production of Mary Poppins Jr. We wish Lara, Edward, Emma and Kenna all the very best for their performances. Chookas!

NAIDOC Week 5th - 12th July

During the holidays, it will be NAIDOC Week. Did you know that it is the 50th Anniversary of NAIDOC Week? Fifty Years of Deadly is a tribute to the people who built the NAIDOC Week movement.  In Buddies and Mates today, students learnt about the importance of NAIDOC week and the stories and celebrations of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. They also worked together to create a school Rainbow Serpent to represent our acknowledgment of NAIDOC Week at Dana Street Primary School.

Have a wonderful week,

Helen
