Strengthening Faith, Connecting Families

Primary School

  • Book Parade: Thank God for the wonderful Book Parade and the opportunity it provided for our school community to connect. Pray that God would continue to use events like this to build relationships between Christian and non-Christian families and create opportunities for the gospel to be shared.
  • Our Library: Give thanks for our librarian, Mrs Winter, and the way she encourages a love of reading in our students. Pray that God would continue to use her work to bless and inspire our children.

  • CRU FIT: Pray for the 10 Year 5 students attending the upcoming CRU FIT event. The students will be encouraged that “CRU leaders love God and love others” and will explore practical ways to live this out through loving God, loving others, encouraging others and building friendships. Pray that God would grow these students as young Christian leaders who point others towards Jesus through their words and actions.

High School

  • Trial Exams: Pray for our senior students completing their Trial Exams and for teachers as they mark and assess papers. Pray for wisdom, perseverance and peace during this busy season.
  • Finishing Well: Pray for our Year 12 students as they approach the end of their schooling. Pray that they would finish well and, whatever their future holds, know that their identity, hope and purpose are found in Christ.
  • End-of-Year Activities: Pray for those organising graduation and other end-of-year activities. Pray that these would be opportunities to celebrate students, strengthen relationships and create opportunities to share the hope we have in Jesus.
  • Bible Study Groups: Pray for our Bible Study groups as they finish for the term. Give thanks for the students and staff who have gathered around God's Word and pray that what they have learned would continue to shape their lives and deepen their relationship with Jesus.

Year 8 – Matthew 5–7

  • Understanding Jesus' Teaching: Pray that God would give our Year 8 students wisdom as they study Jesus' Sermon on the Mount, particularly the Beatitudes. Pray that they would understand Jesus' teaching and see how it applies to their lives today.
  • Being Salt and Light: Pray that our Christian students would take seriously Jesus' call to be salt and light in our school and community, even when following Jesus is difficult.
  • Responding to the Gospel: Pray that our non-Christian students would be challenged by the words and claims of Jesus and come to recognise their need for Him and put their trust in Him.

Year 9 & 10 – Studying Mark

  • Growing in Faith: Pray that God would deepen our Christian students' knowledge and love of Jesus and inspire them to follow Him faithfully.
  • Encouraging One Another: Pray that students would understand the importance of encouraging one another in their faith and develop strong, supportive Christian relationships.
  • Teaching God's Word: Pray that God would equip these students to confidently read, understand and teach the Bible to others.
  • Future Leaders: Pray that God would raise up students who will use their gifts to serve and lead others in the school community during their Senior years.

Gospel Opportunities

  • Father's Day Breakfast: Pray for our upcoming Father's Day Breakfast and the opportunity it provides to connect with fathers and significant men in the lives of our students. Pray that through the hospitality and care shown, these men would experience something of the love of Jesus and see the difference faith makes at NCS.
  • Students Without a Dad: Pray particularly for students who do not have a father who is a consistent part of their lives. Ask God to be close to them during Father's Day activities, help them to know the love of their heavenly Father, and provide positive and safe male role models through staff, mentors and local churches.

  • Perspectives Evening – 17 September: Pray that new families attending Perspectives Evening would hear a clear presentation of the gospel and see how following Jesus shapes the way we live, parent and engage with others.
  • Perspectives Speakers: Pray for Graeme, Howie and Catriona as they speak at Perspectives Evening. Pray for wisdom, clarity and courage as they share. Pray also for our Christian parents helping facilitate table conversations, that they would be gracious and confident as they share the hope they have in Christ.

  • Pastors Breakfast: Pray for our upcoming Pastors Breakfast with local pastors and church leaders. Pray that it would strengthen relationships and unite churches around the shared mission of making Jesus known to students and families.
  • Church Partnerships: Pray that pastors and churches would see practical ways they can partner with NCS in gospel ministry — through prayer, mentoring, serving, encouragement and helping us share the gospel with students and families.

  • Christian Leadership Program: Pray for our upcoming CLP training day with Adam Jolliffe, who will teach students creative ways to share the gospel using puppets and story sticks. Pray that our students would grow in confidence and courage as they learn to tell others about Jesus.

  • Solomon Islands Mission Trip: Give thanks for the recent mission trip to the Solomon Islands and the impact it has had on the Year 10 students who participated. Pray that the experience would continue to shape their understanding of God's global mission and grow their desire to serve Jesus and make Him known wherever God leads them.
