Ciao a tutti,

Hope you are keeping well and have had a great start to Term 3 with your child /children. The students this term will continue to build on their prior knowledge through new topics and learning activities.

The Preps have begun the term by participating in their weekly Italian lessons enthusiastically and joyfully. They have been introduced to the text ‘Ecco Pinocchio.’ and to parts of the body vocabulary as well as some very popular Italian expressions. They have also cheerfully played games and freely joined in singing simple Italian songs.

They have begun to increase their vocabulary knowledge by listing the goods sold in four different shops in both Italian and English. The students have happily joined in playing the game Around The World which reinforces their general knowledge and have eagerly completed the interactive tasks on Duo Lingo.

Years Five and Six have begun the term by working on a unit of work entitled ‘Buon Appetito’ - Enjoy your meal which aims to introduce the students to the vocabulary associated with ordering food and drinks at a fast food restaurant. They have completed a list with the names of many restaurants offering different cuisine found in Australia but not in Italy. The students have also been introduced to the verbs: Mangiare – to eat and Bere - to drink - in the present tense and have written sentences using the conjugation of the verb. They have completed online quizzes and continue to complete many tasks on Duo Lingo which deepen their knowledge and understanding of the Italian language and grammar.
