Principal's Message

CONGRATULATIONS DANIELLE
Congratulations and good luck to our wonderful Assistant Principal, Danielle Toone, who has been named a finalist in the Engaging Kids in School Award, presented by the Victorian Department of Education.
Danielle is one of just four finalists selected from 1,449 nominations from across Victoria—an outstanding achievement and wonderful recognition of her dedication and leadership.
Danielle was nominated by Lookout Education for her exceptional work in supporting and re-engaging children and young people with school. Often, these are some of our most vulnerable students, with children coming to Warrnambool Primary School from across the state to access the support, care and educational opportunities they need.
We are immensely proud of Danielle and the leadership she provides in this important area. We are also incredibly proud of our fantastic teaching and learning team across the school, whose commitment, skill and compassion make such a difference to the lives of our students every day.
The award ceremony will be held at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Thursday 3rd September 2026.
On behalf of the entire Warrnambool Primary School community, we wish Danielle the very best of luck. Congratulations, Danielle—we are enormously proud of you.
BOOK WEEK COSTUMES – A FANTASTIC EFFORT!
What a fantastic effort from everyone during our Book Week celebrations!
Our students and staff looked absolutely fabulous in their wonderful costumes. It was fantastic to see so much creativity, imagination and colour throughout the school, with so many amazing book characters coming to life.
Thank you to all our families for the effort that went into helping students prepare their costumes. The excitement and enthusiasm on the day made it a very special celebration of books, reading and storytelling.
Well done everyone—you looked amazing.
BOOK WEEK VISIT - YEAR 4
As part of our Book Week celebrations, our Year 4 students were lucky enough to welcome a group of Year 8 students from Warrnambool College for a special morning of reading.
The visit began with some fun get-to-know-you games, giving the students a chance to meet one another and build confidence before sharing their work. The Year 8 students then presented a range of short stories they had written and illustrated themselves. Our Year 4 students enjoyed listening to the different characters, settings and ideas, while also taking the opportunity to ask questions.
It was fantastic to see students from different year levels connecting through a shared love of stories. It was also especially great to see some past Warrnambool Primary School students returning to visit and sharing their work with our current students.
The visit was a wonderful addition to our Book Week celebrations and a great opportunity for our Year 4 students to see the creativity and effort that goes into producing an engaging piece of writing.
A big thank you to the Warrnambool College students and staff for visiting and sharing their work with us. We hope to welcome them back again in the future!
FOUNDATION ART GALLERY AND LIBRARY EXCURSION
On Tuesday, Foundation students visited the Art Gallery and the Library. The current exhibition at the Art Gallery is the Young Portrait Show where the artwork portraits of our students are on show.
We found our artwork on display that we had created with Mrs Dixon and created another portrait using shapes. Check out the Art Gallery and see if you can find your child's artwork!
We also visited the Library and had a tour and listened to a shortlisted Book Week story Frogs Are Our Friends and then made a jumpy frog. It was great to hear so many of our students have already visited the library. Why don’t you make a visit during the school holidays?
THE LITTLE MERMAID TAKES TO THE STAGE
WEDNESDAY 2ND SEPTEMBER 2026 12PM & 7PM
Excitement is building at Warrnambool Primary School as our students prepare to present The Little Mermaid.
For many weeks, students have been busily rehearsing their lines, practising songs and dances, preparing costumes and working together to bring this much-loved story to life. The enthusiasm, energy and talent on display have been simply outstanding.
A whole-school production is a wonderful opportunity for our students to shine, build confidence and be part of something very special. It has been fantastic to see students of all ages working together, supporting one another and having plenty of fun along the way.
We are incredibly proud of the efforts of all our students, staff and families who have helped make this production possible. We cannot wait to see our talented students take to the stage and share The Little Mermaid with our school community.
With two performances scheduled for Wednesday 2nd September at 12pm and 7pm, we are expecting plenty of excitement and two wonderful audiences. You must order all tickets online through Compass Tix or the office.
There is no capacity to purchase on the day of the performance.
