TERM 2, Week 8
Hi Prep Families,
Over the past two weeks, the Prep students have been busy writers! We have been working hard on developing our independent writing skills by using our knowledge of phonemes and practising our sounding-out strategies. They have been learning to include finger spaces between words, start their sentences with a capital letter, and finish with a full stop. It’s been wonderful to see their confidence grow as they write their ideas. We are very proud of every student’s effort and the fantastic progress they are making in their writing journey!
In Maths, they have been learning all about sharing equally. They have been practising how to share items fairly between groups by giving one to each group at a time until there are no more left. Then, we count how many are in each group to check if it’s fair. This hands-on learning has helped us build a strong understanding of equal groups and early division skills in a fun and practical way!
In Inquiry, our Prep learners have been curious scientists, busy discovering new information! Each student posed a thoughtful question based on something they wondered about, and during Library time, we have been exploring books and watching videos to help us find answers. During Investigation time, students have been using their scientific skills—observing, exploring, and asking questions—to make exciting discoveries and deepen their understanding of the world around them.
Have a lovely weekend,
Ebonie, Tina and Simone
