Kindergarten
Our Kindergarten students are doing an amazing job adjusting to all the big school routines! We’ve had so much fun together, and I’m proud of how well everyone is settling in. From practicing our daily routines to building new friendships, every day is full of exciting learning moments.
In our gross motor activities, we’ve been strengthening our core muscles through fun exercises and games. These activities help us build strength and coordination while also encouraging teamwork and cooperation. Plus, it’s a great way to get our brains and bodies working together, helping both the left and right sides of our brains connect and grow!
In mathematics, we’ve been exploring the world of 2D shapes! Our students have been busy naming, describing, and sorting shapes in different ways. It’s been wonderful to see them recognise shapes everywhere, from the classroom to the playground! We’ve just begun a new topic on patterns. The children are learning to create, continue, and describe repeating patterns. They are becoming pattern experts already!
In our Initialit lessons, we’ve been diving into the world of syllables, rhyming, and counting words in sentences. Our little learners are getting so good at clapping out syllables and recognizing rhyming words in their favorite stories. It’s been amazing to see how excited they get when they spot rhymes or figure out how many words are in a sentence!
We’ve also been enjoying all of our storybook adventures. Each day brings a new favorite story, and the children are always eager to share their thoughts and predictions. Their love for reading is truly growing!
We are thrilled to announce that Show and Tell has officially begun, and what a fantastic start it has been! A big thank you to all the families for helping prepare your children. They've done a fabulous job speaking in front of their friends and sharing something special with the class.
The children are becoming more confident with their speaking skills, and it’s wonderful to see them practicing their listening skills as well. We can’t wait for more Show and Tell moments as we continue to build our public speaking abilities!
The most exciting news is that we’re getting so close to introducing single sounds. This next step will open up even more doors for reading and writing, and the kids are buzzing with excitement for this new challenge.
We can’t wait to continue this exciting journey of learning and discovery with your amazing children!
Walcha Show - Horticulture presentation
Mrs Ireland and Mrs Hoy visited school to model some horticulture ideas for the upcoming Walcha Show exhibition. This year, students are being asked to complete their horticulture entries at home and to drop entries off at the Walcha Show Horticulture pavilion by the morning of Thursday 13th March.
Following are the themes for each class:
Kinder Make a birthday card with flowers, seeds or foliage.
Year 1 and 2 Make a birthday card with flowers, seeds or foliage.
Years 3/4 Hanging display - can be a single strand of flowers, beads, gumnuts, foliage or a circular hanger.
Year 5/6 Boot - decorated with flowers or foliage.
St. Patrick's staff and students would like toi thank Julie and Phylis for visiting our school and giving us so many fantastic ideas. The horticulture group really wants to encourage as many entries as possible. Why not try to dry some flowers now in preparation?
