Reflection

We are now in the final days of the first part of the Ordinary Season in the Church’s liturgical calendar, as we prepare for Ash Wednesday this coming Wednesday. This marks the beginning of Lent, a season of reflection, prayer, and preparation for Easter.

Though its name may suggest otherwise, Ordinary Time is far from ordinary. It is a season that focuses on the life and teachings of Jesus, encouraging us to grow in faith through His message of love, service, and discipleship. During this time, we reflect on Christ’s ministry and how we can live out His teachings in our daily lives.

With the arrival of Ash Wednesday, we shift our focus to Lent, a time of spiritual renewal, self-discipline, and deeper connection with God. As we prepare for this transition, may we take these last days of Ordinary Time to reflect on the lessons we have learned and carry them forward into the Lenten season.

Prayer

Heavenly Father,

As we come to the final days of Ordinary Time,

we thank You for the blessings

and lessons You have given us.

Help us to carry the wisdom

of this season into our daily lives

and prepare our hearts for the journey of Lent ahead.

May we grow in faith, love, and service,

always seeking to follow Your will.

Guide us as we draw closer to You.

Amen.

Ash Wednesday Mass at St Patrick’s

This Wednesday, 5th March, marks Ash Wednesday, a significant day in the Catholic calendar that begins the season of Lent—a time of reflection, prayer, and renewal. To commemorate this special occasion, the St Patrick’s Learning Community will come together to celebrate Mass at 11:30 AM at St Patrick’s Catholic Church.

We warmly invite all families, parish members, and the wider community to join us for this meaningful celebration. Ash Wednesday serves as a reminder of our faith journey, encouraging us to embrace kindness, humility, and generosity throughout the Lenten season.

We look forward to seeing you there as we begin this sacred time together. All are welcome!

Jubilee 2025 Pilgrims of Hope

The Jubilee 2025 is a special year of celebration in the Catholic Church, proclaimed by Pope Francis, with the theme "Pilgrims of Hope." It is a time for renewal, spiritual reflection, and growth in faith.

What is the Jubilee 2025?

A Jubilee Year is a sacred tradition in the Catholic Church, occurring every 25 years, offering special graces, forgiveness, and opportunities for spiritual growth. It is a time of pilgrimage, prayer, and reconciliation. Pope Francis has declared 2025 as the next Jubilee Year, inviting the faithful to focus on hope, unity, and renewal.

Pilgrims of Hope

The theme, "Pilgrims of Hope," encourages people to embark on a journey of faith, trust in God’s promises, and actively spread hope in their communities. The theme emphasises:

  • Spiritual renewal – Strengthening faith through prayer, the sacraments, and acts of mercy.
  • Unity and solidarity – Bringing people together in hope, regardless of differences.
  • Commitment to justice and peace – Encouraging action to help those in need.

Key Events and Activities

  • Pilgrimages to Rome and Holy Sites – Millions of Catholics will travel to Rome to participate in special events, including Masses and prayers led by the Pope.
  • Holy Doors Opening – The opening of Holy Doors in major basilicas symbolizes entry into God’s grace.
  • Acts of Mercy and Service – Encouraging individuals and communities to serve those in need as an expression of faith.
