Acting Principal Update

Welcome Back to Term 2
We've had a wonderful start to Term 2. Students returned settled and ready to learn, indicating that the morning and classroom routines the staff implemented across Term 1 have created calm learning environments which in turn has established pre-conditions for learning.
I feel incredibly privileged to have stepped into the role of Acting Principal at Menzies Creek Primary School and to be joining such a welcoming and connected school. I am grateful to the whole school community for the warm welcome you have extended me and I am looking forward to getting to know our students and families over the coming weeks and working together to continue the strong culture of learning, connection and care that defines Menzies Creek Primary School.
ANZAC Service
On Wednesday 22nd April our school captains represented Menzies Creek Primary School at the ANZAC Ceremony for Schools held in Ferntree Gully. The students laid a wreath on behalf of the school and they should be commended on the way they conducted themselves at the ceremony.
Mother's Day Stall - Friday 8th May
It is time to spoil mum or a special person and shop at our Mother's Day Stall being held on Friday 8th May. We recommend a limit of $10 per child and siblings will shop together to ensure the gifts they choose are coordinated. A big thank you to our wonderful Fundraising and Events Committee for organising the Mother's Day Stall.
Mother's and Special Person's Celebration
I'm excited to invite our wonderful mums and special friends to our upcoming celebration on Monday 11th May where you will be invited into your child's classroom from 3pm to partake in activities with them.
Hot Chocolate and P.J Day
Our Student Voice Team have organised a Hot Chocolate and Pyjama Day to raise money for the Royal Children's Hospital. Students are invited to wear their favourite pyjamas to school on Monday 18th May and bring a gold coin donation.
Staffing Updates
Sonya McLeod will be taking some well deserved Long Service Leave from Wednesday 29th April to Friday 12th June and will be replaced by Brendan Alexander. Brendan is well known across the school community and will be in the 4-6S classroom Monday to Thursday, with Anne Matheson teaching the students on Friday.

We welcome our families to join us for our school assemblies. Our first assembly for the term will be held on Friday 1st May.

You may have noticed our two new promotional boards - one sitting out the front of the Administration Building and one at the roundabout on Belgrave-Gembrook Road. We are doing all we can to promote our wonderful school. As part of the promotion we are running School Tours on Monday and Wednesday mornings at 9:15am and I encourage you to get the word out.
