Good Afternoon Parents Students, Staff and Friends of Derinya,

As we reach the end of a vibrant and highly successful Term 1, it is wonderful to reflect on the many achievements, experiences and moments of growth that have defined our school community. From outstanding fundraising efforts to memorable camps and celebrations, this term has truly showcased the spirit, resilience and generosity of our students, staff and families. Thank you for your ongoing support in making our school such a connected and thriving place to learn.

Colour Run Success

What an incredible achievement by our community in this year’s Colour Run! Together, we raised an outstanding $63,000, with 65% of these funds coming directly back to our school. This is a remarkable result and a testament to the enthusiasm and generosity of our families. These funds will directly support our efforts towards our new playground project.

Staffing Update

We send our very best wishes to Mrs Julie Baltas as she begins family leave. We thank Julie for her dedication and contribution and look forward to welcoming her back in the future. At the same time, we are very pleased to welcome back Ms Jo Gardener who will be teaching 5JB for the remainder of the year.

Easter Raffle

Our Easter Raffle has once again been a highlight of the term, with an impressive 102 prizes drawn today. A big congratulations to all our winners, and in particular to Chloe B in Grade 1, who took out the first prize. Thank you to everyone who donated, purchased tickets and supported this joyful community event which wouldn’t be possible without the hard work and dedication of our Community Connect Team.

Year 4 Camp – The Ranch

Our Year 4 students recently returned from their camp at The Ranch, and I am incredibly proud of the way they embraced every opportunity. The camp was a wonderful showcase of resilience, teamwork and independence, with students stepping outside their comfort zones, supporting one another and demonstrating outstanding behaviour throughout. Experiences like these play such an important role in building confidence and lifelong memories.

As we head into the term break, I wish all families a safe and restful holiday. Thank you again for a fantastic start to the year, we look forward to another exciting term ahead.

Happy easter and have a wonderful holiday break.
