Dear Families,

Halfway Through Term and So Much to Celebrate!

It is hard to believe that we are now officially halfway through the term! As always, there is so much happening across our wonderful school community, and it is a privilege to see our students embracing the many opportunities for learning, connection, service and celebration.

This Friday, we look forward to a very special occasion as we hold our Fire Carriers Commissioning Ceremony. This is an important opportunity to recognise and celebrate our students who will take on this leadership role within our school community. As the ceremony will be taking place on Friday, there will be no assembly or awards this week.

Next week, we will celebrate Bullying No Way Week, with our students participating in a range of learning experiences focused on kindness, respect, inclusion, empathy and looking out for one another. These are important values that sit at the heart of who we are as a Catholic school community, and I look forward to seeing our students putting these messages into action each day.

Our Senior students are also very excited as they prepare to set off for camp on Monday, 24 August. Camp is always a wonderful learning experience, providing opportunities for students to challenge themselves, develop independence, strengthen friendships and create memories together. I wish our Seniors and staff a fantastic camp experience and look forward to sharing in their adventures on both evenings!

On Friday, 28 August, we will come together for our Book Week Dress Up Day, celebrating this year's theme, A Symphony of Stories. It promises to be a fun and colourful celebration of the wonderful world of books, stories and imagination. I am sure our students will enjoy bringing their favourite characters and stories to life.

With Father's Day fast approaching, we are also looking forward to celebrating the fathers and father figures who are such an important part of our children's lives. On Thursday, 3 September, we will hold our special Father's Day Breakfast and activities, along with our Father's Day Stall. We look forward to welcoming our families into the school for what will be a wonderful morning of connection and celebration.

Alongside these larger community events, our students continue to engage in many valuable learning opportunities across the school, including excursions, sporting events and a wide range of classroom experiences. These opportunities enrich the learning that takes place each day and help our students grow not only academically, but also socially, emotionally and spiritually.

There is certainly plenty happening at Our Lady Star of the Sea! Thank you to our dedicated staff, students and families for the energy, enthusiasm and support you bring to our school community. I look forward to all that the remainder of the term has in store and, most importantly, to continuing to celebrate the many wonderful achievements and moments of learning that happen every day.
