LET’S LOOK AFTER OUR WILDLIFE
AUSSIE BACKYARD BIRD COUNT RESULTS
Each year Birdlife Australia conducts the Aussie Backyard Bird Count to help us connect with wildlife around us and help us take notice of any changes to bird species.
Students enjoyed looking up in the sky and in the trees of our school grounds for birds last week. Congratulations to Tristan in Junior Spence who feared birds but overcame his fear when he joined his class for this activity. We would have larger numbers of birds counted but the warmer weather last Thursday and Friday encouraged the birds to look for shade.
Here are our results:
Magpies: seven
Noisy Mynahs: twelve
Seagulls: six
Rainbow Lorikeet: fourteen
Wattlebirds: four
Mudlark: one
Swallows: five
Crows: three
Blackbirds: two
Doves: two
Senior Kitchen Garden group have been making nesting boxes with Mr. Scott in Woodwork. These will be great positioned in trees for us to observe birds up close and provide a safe place for birds.
