From the Office

Dear Families,
We have returned after what we hope was a safe and peaceful 2-week break from school. Just a reminder to send the kids with their hats, a drink bottle and their reading diaries. We are collating student reading nights and handing out awards so keep up the great work! Reports from James Sait are that he and his family are having an amazing time on their trip away to Queensland. I will be out of the classroom a little more until James returns to help assist Taylah so please make contact with me at school should you have any queries/concerns.

Past Events
Science Day - On Wednesday the 16th of December we travelled to Elmore Primary School to take part in the Campaspe Cluster Science Day. On this day, the students were split amongst the different school and rotated around a series of science activities. It was amazing wathcing the kids make new connections with other small school students and even set up some pre-emerging friendships for our upcoming Cluster Camps.
Bendigo Excursion Day - Thursday the 17th of September was an enormous day for the Raywood kids! Train to Bendigo, split into grades, P-2 students walk to the Ulumbarra Theatre to see a production show of Room on the Broom, 3-6 students walk to the Central Deborah Gold Mine for a Mine Experience, meet back at KFC for a delicious lunch, bus to Cooinda Park Playspace, bus to Gurri Wanyarra Swimming Pool for the final swim of our swimming program, bus back to school. The kids were absolutely exhausted at the end of this day, but I would like to thank them for their resilience during what was a very tiring outing.
Footy Colours Day - What a great effort all of the kids put in by dressing up for footy colours day. Along with proudly representing our teams, we were also able to raise money for the National Fight Cancer Foundation - raising money for families of kids battling cancer.
Upcoming Events
The Song Room - Darren has kindly offered to provide our 3-6 students with some small group instrument lessons alongside the whole class song room program that he is running on Fridays in Term 4. Each of the 3-6 kids got the chance to choose and instrument that they would like to further improve their playing in a series of more focused sessions with Darren. He and I are still scheduling these to fit our Friday learning schedule but we are looking forward to seeing where the kids can take their playing this term.
2027 Prep Transition - With an extremely busy first 7 weeks of term, our transition sessions will begin at the end of November. We can't wait to see all of your smiling faces on:
- Tuesday 24th of November 9am-12pm
- Tuesday 1st of December 9am-1:30pm
- Tuesday 8th of December 9am-3:20pm (Whole School Transition Day)
Term 4 Native Plantation
On the 15th of October (week 2) in Term 4, Raywood Primary will be holding a native plantation at our school. This will involve the staff and students planting 200 new plants along the back of our oval. The aim of this is to plant species that are ‘local’ to our area to complement the wildlife in Raywood.
It will be a busy morning and given that the weather will be starting to warm up, we will begin out planting first thing to beat the heat.
A few reminders for the day:
- Students won’t be required to wear uniform this day. Old clothing that can get dirty would be best. A change of clothes for afterward would be a good idea.
- Wear boots or old shoes that you don’t mind getting messy
- Bring plenty of water, it will be hot!
We will provide the students with a BBQ lunch on this day. A big thanks to my dad and 2 uncles for their time and for bringing in the necessary equipment to cultivate the plantation area for us!
2027 New Prep Student Uniforms
Our new prep orders are going to be placed on Wednesday, the 11th of November. We are asking that all of our families have their orders in by this date so there are no delays and the kids are ready to go for next year.
Student Awards - Congratulations to this week's award winners... Elliot, Abby & Stella
Thanks everyone,
Hayden
