Meaningful learning

This week, as we celebrate Aboriginal culture, students have been engaging in a variety of learning activities designed to enrich their knowledge and understanding about the worlds longest living culture. Significantly, Stage 3 students have drawn great joy from sharing these experiences with their buddy classrooms. As Aboriginal philosopher and writer, Tyson Yunkaporta highlights in his book Sand Talks, the best learning is intricately linked with joy. The experiences and activities connected with enjoyment, especially when shared with other people, embed themselves in our long term memory.
