Welcome Back to Term 3!

Welcome back to Term 3 to all our students and families!

It has been a wonderful start to the term and it has been great to see our students return so settled, happy and ready to learn. Our HANDS OFF approach has really improved across the school yard. Our clear expectations across the school are having a really positive impact, supporting calm, orderly and predictable learning environments where students can feel safe, settled and ready to learn. A big thank you to our students for the way they have responded to these expectations and to our families for continuing to reinforce these messages at home.

A big thank you also to all the families who joined us for our Family Mass on Saturday evening. Fr DJ was thrilled to see such a wonderful turnout from our St John’s families and we look forward to continuing to grow these opportunities throughout the year. Our hope is to celebrate a Family Mass each month and moving forward, we would love to include a BBQ or some food and drinks afterwards to provide an opportunity for our families to stay, catch up and enjoy spending time together as a community. A special thank you to Mrs Frewen for all her organisation in bringing our Family Mass together!

Looking Sharp!

We have seen a huge improvement in our school uniform across St John’s since returning for Term 3, particularly with students wearing the correct green school socks each day. Thank you to our families for your support with this! Our Foundation students have been leading the way, with a few days already where 100% of the class has arrived in the correct school uniform. What a fantastic effort! Wearing our uniform correctly is a simple but important way for our students to show pride in themselves and in being part of the St John’s community. We know mornings can be busy in every household, so we really appreciate the effort families are making to ensure students arrive each day looking their best and ready for school.

Parent Teacher Interviews – Next Week

We are really looking forward to welcoming families into school next week for our Parent Teacher Interviews. These important catch ups are a wonderful opportunity for families and teachers to come together, celebrate each child’s learning and achievements and have a conversation about their progress and areas of focus moving forward. Following the release of our Semester 1 Reports at the end of Term 2, we strongly encourage all families to book a meeting with their child’s classroom teacher. Interviews will be held on Monday 27th July from 2pm to 5:30pm and Tuesday 28th July from 2pm to 5:30pm. To book your 10-minute interview, please log into your SIMON – Parent Access Module (PAM) app and select an available time with your child’s classroom teacher. If you are having any trouble making a booking, please contact Bek at the School Office, who will be more than happy to assist. We really value these opportunities to connect with our families and look forward to seeing many of you next week!

Pupil Free Day – Staff Spirituality Day

Gallery Image

A reminder to all families that next Wednesday 5th August will be a Pupil Free Day at St John’s. On this day, our staff will be travelling to FCJ College in Benalla to join with staff from across our region for our CESL Staff Spirituality Day. This will be an important opportunity for our staff to come together in faith, reflection and formation. Uniting will be providing care for St John’s students on Wednesday 5th August for families who require it. There will be no LUNCH ORDERS on Wednesday 5th August (Week 4), so please look out for a note from Mrs Timperley regarding a Hot Lunch on Tuesday 4th August. This will be a FIRE Carrier Fundraiser!

100 Days of Foundation!

We have a very exciting milestone coming up for our youngest students, with our Foundation students soon celebrating their 100 days of school! This is always a wonderful occasion and an opportunity to celebrate just how much our Foundation students have grown, learned and achieved since they first walked through the gates of St John’s at the beginning of the year. We know there will be plenty of excitement as they mark this special milestone together and we look forward to celebrating with them and recognising the fantastic achievements of our Foundation students during their first 100 days at St John’s! Thanks to Mrs Refern and Lisa Lister for their work and preparation for this wonderful celebration next week.

It has been a fantastic start to the term and I look forward to seeing many of you around the school over the coming weeks.

Take care,

Sam
