On Friday 15 May, Gibney Hall hosted this years’ Middle School Music Night, the first of 3 major concerts this Term.
The evening featured a range of musical performances in front of a packed audience of family and friends. Audiences enjoyed the energetic and stylish Swing Band II and the neat arrangements of Classical Guitar Ensemble II. The Symphonic Brass Ensemble showed a lot of potential performing Into the Clouds. The epic performance of the evening was the 100 strong voices of the Middle School Chorale relating the story of explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton. The finely honed Middle School Vocal Ensemble showed their class with All Will be Well and Celtic Jubilate, both works by Australian composers.
Students from both Trinity College and Mercedes College joined together in several ensembles. The expanding Trinity Mercedes String Ensemble I performed confidence. The Trinity Mercedes Wing Band also gave a crowd pleasing first performance. The night concluded with Korean Folk Rhapsody and Slava March tightly performed by the Trinity Mercedes Wind Ensemble.
A warm thank you to all the families and friends who attend and supported our young performers. We also extend out appreciation to the dedicated music staff whose hard work preparing the ensembles made the night such success. Congratulations to all the students involved.
An enduring tradition on the Music Nights is the FoPA raffle. The committee are seeking support from the Performing Arts community in donations of prizes (homewares, giftware, outdoor/camping gear, sporting goods, specialty vouchers, etc.) or financial contributions (starting from $10) FoPA donation link.
