DIOCESAN CRICKET AND TOUCH FOOTBALL TRIALS

Well done to the students who travelled to Tamworth at the end of last term to participate at the Diocesan Cricket and Touch Football Trials. Six students participated in the touch trials demonstrating strong skills and knowledge. At the Riverside nets, three students played cricket very well!! All students had a fantastic day at the trials for their nominated sport.

Congratulations to Angus Irwin who was selected for the Armidale Boys Cricket Team. Angus will make the journey to Lismore for the Polding Trials in September.

PD/H/PE - PLATFORM & CO

Last Term, St Francis Xavier’s students had the fantastic opportunity to engage with Mr Jake Packer and Mrs Ellie Packer, the owners of Narrabri-based organisation, Platform & Co. Platform & Co specialise in fundamental movement education for primary aged children, allowing them to learn the skills of any chosen sport whilst improving their confidence and overall capability.

During PD/H/PE lessons on Wednesdays the primary students played basketball. They participated in multiple activities in order to master the basic skills of the game such as passing and throwing and dribbling relays as well as learning the terms associated with the different areas of a basketball court.

The infants students enjoyed playing a variety of games such as infinity tag and also practicing different ball skills such as rolling the ball along the ground aiming at a specific spot. The overall objective of these activities was to further develop their hand-eye coordination whilst also enhancing their every day fundamental movement skills.

Our teachers thoroughly enjoyed working closely with Platform & Co to support the PD/H/PE syllabus for movement skills. A huge thank you to Mr Packer and Mrs Packer for engaging with our school and creating such a fun and worthwhile experience.

We are excited to welcome Platform & Co back this term to continue their amazing PD/H/PE lessons!!
