Sport around the grounds

Ultimate Frisbee

Year 7–10 students have been showcasing their skills in Ultimate Frisbee at Whalan Reserve. Ultimate Frisbee needed students to throw and catch the frisbee without dropping, whilst trying to move into space to advance the frisbee into the touchdown zone. Playing in a pool of four mixed teams, they’ve demonstrated outstanding teamwork, athleticism—leaping high above opponents—and excellent sportsmanship throughout. Their positive energy and competitive spirit have made every game a thrilling display of fair play and talent. Well done to all involved with our St Lukes team winning and drawing 4/8 games.

Boys Soccer

It’s been a big term for our Junior and Intermediate Boys Soccer teams. While the scoreboard hasn’t always been in our favour, what really stands out is the effort, teamwork, and improvement these boys have shown each week. There have been some tough decisions that have gone against us but the boys have continued to keep fighting till the final whistle. They’ve turned up to the games with a great attitude, giving it their all regardless of the result.

For many of the boys, this has been their first time playing together as a team, and it's been great to see their confidence grow, their passing sharpen, and their communication on the field really come together. Every game has been a learning experience, and the progress from the start of the season to now has been clear to see.

Big wins might not have come just yet, but the growth, spirit, and sportsmanship these teams have shown make me incredibly proud. We’re looking forward to finishing the season strong and taking everything they’ve learned into the finals series.

It’s also been great to see some students really shine during school rep sport. Soccer has given them a space to lead, focus, and show their strengths in a different environment. Their involvement in the team has had a positive impact on all of their teammates.

Junior Team

The Year 7–8 squad may have started the season finding their footing, but by mid-campaign they had truly come together. Their first goal was met with cheers from the sidelines and smiles all around—an unforgettable moment that showcased how far they’d grown as a unit.

Intermediate Team

Our intermediate side quickly earned a reputation as a force to be reckoned with. Week after week, they honed their skills and outscored the junior team, displaying crisp passing, strong footwork, and impressive court awareness. They would not let another school take a victory without a fight!

Season Reflections

The triumph this season was in both teams unshakeable teamwork, dedication, and perseverance. Each training session, every sprint down the court, and all the extra practice paid off in the girls’ confidence and camaraderie. We’re incredibly proud of how they embraced a tough challenge and grew together—qualities that will serve them well in whatever comes next. With their resilience on display, we can’t wait to see what new goals and adventures await these young athletes in the seasons to come!
