Message from the Principal Team

Dear CSC community,

I would like to extend a warm welcome to all our families and staff, particularly those who are new to the school.

The transition into a new year level can be exciting, and sometimes a little daunting, with changes to classes, classmates, and teachers. This is the time to think about developing relationships and how we can put our best selves forward by making others feel welcome and safe.

This year we have introduced an organisational change to ensure that year level assistant principals and leading teachers follow their cohorts as they move up a year level. Along with this, many form teachers have chosen to maintain the relationships made last year by remaining with the same classes.  The stability inherent in this approach is immediately apparent, it builds strong connections between teachers, students, and families. It also helps embed our value of belonging and our underpinning philosophy of knowing our students.

We started the school year with meetings between form teachers and students’ families. Valuable information about individual learning needs was gained thanks to these interactions. Thank you to all those who attended, and I would like to invite any families who have not yet touched base with their child's form teacher, to do so in the next few weeks.

Already we have experienced strong CSC community connections with one of our best swimming carnivals to date. The spirit engendered by our wonderful House Captains, and the enthusiasm shown by staff, combined to make the day a great event.  Some of our talented swimmers will now be able to compete at regional and state level thanks to their performance at the carnival.

2024 also sees the launch of our new Business Academy. We have made an incredibly positive start to this pilot program, with meaningful partnerships established between CSC and local businesses. This venture will provide amazing opportunities for our students and their futures.

Congratulations to all our student leaders, I am looking forward to working closely with them. This year we will be focusing on school culture and fostering an environment which reflects our values of Belonging, Respect, Growth and Understanding.  We will set an example through leadership that will reflect to students, staff, and families our commitment to pursuing an inclusive learning environment that we can all be proud of.

Thank you to our students, the vast majority of whom, have settled well into their learning and are being respectful to others and themselves.

I wish everyone a successful year of learning, and I hope you are able to work towards your personal dreams, whilst being mindful of promoting issues of belonging, safety and community.

Kate Morphy,

Principal.
