From the Head of Boarding

I would like to extend a very warm welcome to our new families starting their journey at GSG boarding this year and extend a welcome back to our existing families who have supported and chosen GSG boarding for their child.

Our vision for a thriving boarding community is to promote open, transparent and honest relationships between staff, students and you the parents where ultimately everyone who lives, works or visits our boarding community feels like they belong to a special community within Great Southern Grammar.

In line with the school values of GSG our boarding team aims to provide a safe, secure and positive environment in which students can develop the knowledge, skills, self-confidence and maturity to respect and care for themselves and others.

The school aims to establish a community in which we embrace diversity, choose inclusion and shape a deep sense of belonging for everyone within it. It is our responsibility as a boarding community that we support these aims and demonstrate respect for each other.

Within our boarding team we have the three main qualities of local connection, lived experiences and passion, these qualities shape the foundation of a dream team that we believe in conjunction with working with you and your child can develop and value add to their learning experience.

Boarding can provide a great foundation for your child’s learning and wellbeing, so they see personal success while here at Great Southern Grammar and beyond.

The Boarding Buzz comes out three times each term (Terms One to Three) and twice in Term Four.  In addition, we have put together this special issue as an introduction to the 2024 year and to provide some important information to Boarding families.

In the next issue of The Boarding Buzz you can expect to see lots of photos with boarders in action, articles from each of the Boarding Houses and a piece from our Boarding Captains which gives a student voice and perspective. In addition to our newsletter, parents will receive photos of their child on recreational activities or in and around the houses. These will come from the Heads of Boarding House.

If you have any queries, please don't hesitate to make contact with us.  All of the contact details for GSG Boarding can be found here.
