RRRR

This term in Rights, Resilience and Respectful Relationships the Year 1 team will cover two topics. Earlier in the term we looked at Positive Coping. Through this topic students learnt about:
- How to take responsibility for their actions.
- Describe ways to express emotions which show awareness of the feelings and needs of others.
- Practise techniques to deal with the feelings of fear, frustration and anger.
Later in the term students will look at Problem Solving. Through this topic students learnt about:
- How to recognise ways to solve conflict.
- Describe similarities and differences in point of view between themselves and other people.
- Identify cooperative behaviours in a range of group activities.
- Practise individual and group decision making.
- Learn to solve simple interpersonal problems.
It is important to help students as they grow and develop to be able to draw on a range of coping strategies. Positive self-talk is a key strategy for coping with negative thoughts, emotions and events. Research has shown that the use of positive self-talk is associated with greater persistence when faced with a challenge. (Resilience, rights & respectful relationships: level 1 – 2).
