Year 9 Science Excursion
A Day of Learning and Fun!
On Wednesday the 14th of August, students from 9G embarked on an exciting excursion to the Science Gallery at the University of Melbourne, located in the heart of the city. The excursion, titled Take Flight and Sci-Fi Tour, offered our students a unique blend of learning and fun outside the traditional classroom setting.
During the Take Flight session, the students had the incredible opportunity to use Python, a powerful programming language, to control and fly drones. Their mathematical knowledge of units of measurement, geometric shapes, Pythagoras' theorem, and algebra was put to the test as they applied these concepts in real-time to navigate and perform tricks with their drones. The students were thrilled to see their drones soar high into the sky (or the ceiling!) and perform impressive backflips.
Beyond the hands-on experience with technology, the excursion also allowed the students to explore Melbourne's vibrant city atmosphere. It was a day filled with new experiences, combining education with real-world applications, and the students thoroughly enjoyed every moment.
