Learning

Well done to all students and parents for making it this far through the year. Term 3 always seems like the most challenging term to me – it’s dark, cold, often wet, the novelty of the year has well and truly worn off, and the end of the year still seems a long way off. Thankfully, the arrival of Spring weather this week and the lengthening daylight bring optimism and a sense of renewal. I hope that you and your family are able to enjoy some downtime together these holidays, to reconnect and refresh.

For students in Prep to Year 9, there should be very little, if any, holiday homework. However, we do encourage students of all ages to continue reading daily.

Year 10 and 11 students should be spending some of their term break making sure that they are up to date on schoolwork so they can focus their attention on preparing for exams in Term 4.

Year 12 students should be well underway with their exam preparation by now, so they can get the most out of the Trial Exams scheduled for the first week of Term 4. While it is important for students to get some rest during the break, there is very little time left before their final exams so students will need to find a sensible balance between rest and exam preparation.

Things to note:

  • Many assessment items have been completed in the last few weeks of term; please take some time to review the feedback and results provided for your child in My Aitken. This should give you some detail about what aspects of their learning the student needs to focus on in Term 4.
  • 2024 Resource Lists will be distributed in Term 4. For students entering Year 11 or 12, this will be early in the term, so that parents can meet the ordering due date of 29 October. This will allow time for delivery of the items in time for the Early Commencement program that begins on Monday 20 November. Resource Lists for other year levels will be shared in mid-November, with a due date for orders in mid-December.
  • Information about what 2024 Elective subjects your child is enrolled in will be provided to students in time for Resource List ordering.

Happy Spring!
