From the Principal

REMINDER - CLOSURE DAY TOMORROW, FRIDAY 6TH JUNE
REMINDER - Victory Boulevard Milk Bar lunches - Mon, Tues & Fridays
Dear St Michael’s School families,
Prayer for the Feast of Pentecost (Sunday 8th June)
Come, Holy Spirit,
breathe your life into us today.
Fill our hearts with your fire—
a fire that brings courage,
a fire that brings peace,
a fire that brings love.
Help us to listen for your voice
in the quiet and in the chaos.
Guide our thoughts,
strengthen our words,
and inspire our actions
so that we may carry your light into the world.
Like the disciples at Pentecost,
may we be bold in faith,
open to change,
and ready to share your good news
with joy and hope.
Holy Spirit, move within us—
today and always.
Amen.
I encourage all families to view our Religious Education page this week to see what's happening with our Social Justice actions for the upcoming Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

ST MICHAEL'S PRODUCTION
There is a real buzz around the school as we begin preparations for our much-anticipated biennial musical production - School of Pop! This special event is always a highlight on the school calendar, bringing together creativity, teamwork, and plenty of fun. Ms Fary has already set things in motion, and the energy is building as we head toward auditions. In the coming weeks, our senior students will have the exciting opportunity to audition for speaking roles—a chance to be part of something memorable from their Primary School years. We look forward to sharing more details soon as the cast takes shape and the magic of musical theatre begins to unfold at St Michael’s!
PARENTS & FRIENDS ASSOCIATION (PFA) EMAIL ADDRESS
Many parents will be aware that for many years there has been an email address that could be used to email the chairperson of the PFA. Due to changes within our system, that email address is no longer in use. For the time being, please email me at principal@smashburton.catholic.edu.au until you have been advised of an updated PFA email address.
PERCEPTUAL MOTOR PROGRAM
Last week our Prep classes commences the Perceptual Motor Program (P.M.P.). PMP is a movement-based program designed to enhance a child's perception and understanding of their body and the world through sensory and motor experiences. It focuses on developing crucial skills like gross motor abilities, fine motor skills, balance, spatial awareness, and coordination. Essentially, this program aims to connect a child's sensory input with their motor responses, improving their ability to move confidently and interact with their environment.
YEAR ONE/TWO GRANDPARENTS AFTERNOON - INQUIRY LEARNING
This week our Year One/Two classes invited their grandparents into their classrooms as part of their Inquiry Learning into History. Their inquiry this term has been about relationships between family members, the roles of people in the family, how families have changed over time, and identifying similarities and differences between daily life now and in the past. The students wrote questions to ask about their families, the sorts of games they used to play, what chores they did as children, what they did with families over the weekends, how they celebrated special occasions and what were some of their family traditions. It was wonderful to see so many grandparents here to help these children with their inquiry and we thank them for their time.
ST MICHAEL'S VEGGIE GARDEN
Thank you to our Year Five/Six students who yesterday transplanted the remaining spring onions into the garden bed adjacent to the tennis courts and harvested the dill to sell at the end of the school day. They also planted some new cuttings in the garden bed near the steps to the Morotai Street gate. Can't wait to see this area flourish in the coming months! Thank you busy bees!!
We have raised a total of $23.10 from selling our produce over these past few weeks. Thank you Anthony T (Environment Leader) for counting the money and Julian B for helping! These funds will go back into purchasing seeds and perhaps some new implements to help the students when we are gardening!!
Be sure and share any of your special recipes with us that you made with our produce!
PSYCHOLOGY SERVICES AT ST MICHAEL'S SCHOOL
Parents who are seeking a psychologist for their child are welcome to make contact with Advanced Psychology, who run their sessions in a confidential space onsite. Sessions can take place during the school day. If this is something you are seeking, please make contact with Linda Kollind at Advanced Psychology on 03 7002 8006. Discuss your needs and Linda is able to assist with the right program and / or assessment for your child. Please know this is a completely confidential service.
We wish all our families a happy long and restful weekend! A perfect time to get some downtime in this cooler weather and in readiness for the remaining four weeks of Term 2!
