Music & Dance News

Saint John’s Celebration of Dance was held this afternoon in the school hall. Every year level danced to an upbeat music track under the excellent guidance of the STOMP team. Aine, and in recent weeks Issy, have been choreographing an expressive dance highlighting steps, coordination, synchronicity and in some cases real time line changes. The dances were set to a level where all children could succeed. It was a great way showcase the talent and commitment of our students.
Apart from the STOMP dances we have been learning some traditional dances. These include the Gallopede, Circassian Circle, Heel and Toe Polka and a Line Dance which featured in our St John's Celebration of Dance afternoon. Some dances have been single as well as many partner dances.
We also have had some of our school students successfully learn to Air Walk. There was a short demonstration of this during our School Concert.
Overall it's been a great term of dance. Our students showed willingness to be challenged, determination to always do their best and most importantly have FUN!
