Celebrating Science Week at School!

Science Week is officially here, and our classrooms are buzzing with curiosity, discovery, and hands-on investigation! Here is a sneak peek at what our young scientists are up to across the year levels:

  • Prep: Investigating different materials to discover what makes the perfect toy. These investigations will lead them to design and make their own stuffed toy.
  • Years 1 & 2: Testing the forces of push and pull to see how different toys and puppets move. Building the skills that will support them to tell a story with moving parts later in the term.
  • Years 3 & 4: Heading out on an exciting dinosaur excursion to uncover the science behind how we learn about prehistoric life. This will inspire them to design their own museum exhibits later in the term.
  • Year 6: Shedding light on physics through hands-on experiments with light and energy. Getting ready to explore how to design a sustainable home.

All of this incredible work is building up to our grand STEM Expo on Tuesday, September 15. Mark your calendars—we can’t wait to welcome parents into the school to see our students' amazing projects and discoveries in action!

Celebrating Book Week Next Week!

Get ready for a week filled with imagination, story-sharing, and literary fun as we officially kick off Book Week! Over the past few weeks, our entire school community has been immersed in the classic tale of Charlotte’s Web. Together, students across all year levels have been exploring its timeless themes of deep friendship, quiet bravery, and compassion for others—discovering how a little kindness can make a big impact.

The main highlight of our week will take place on Book Day—Friday, August 21. It promises to be an action-packed day of learning and creativity:

  • CBCA Book Workshops: Throughout the morning, students will dive into creative activities, discussions, and hands-on projects inspired by this year’s Children’s Book Council of Australia (CBCA) shortlisted books.
  • Whole-School Movie Afternoon: To round out our celebrations, the entire school will gather for a special movie afternoon to watch Charlotte’s Web, bringing Wilbur and Charlotte's heartwarming story to the big screen.

We are so excited to celebrate the incredible magic of books and reading with our students. Be sure to ask your children about their favorite stories and characters throughout the week!
