Garden Club Potato Harvest

Mrs Foster and the Garden Club members were excited for their first recent potato harvest! The potato bags were emptied into the wheelbarrow allowing hands to dig eagerly through the dirt, unearthing golden treasures hidden in the soil. They harvested several potatoes of varying sizes and the children were excited to take them home.

Annual School Band Concert

Our School Band performed a wonderful end of year concert on Sunday 1st December. Following Sunday Mass, the parishioners, school community and families were invited to join under the COLA to listen to eight beautifully performed instrumental pieces. One of the standout pieces performed was Farandole by Georges Bizet. This dynamic and challenging piece demands precision as it builds in intensity, with different instrumental sections joining in harmony. Achieving impeccable timing and synchronization across the entire ensemble is no small feat, but our performers rose to the occasion brilliantly!

Well done to the band conductor, Mrs Smith, who continues to guide and inspire the music students each year. Bravo to all performers for their hard work, dedication, and outstanding performance - you truly brought these masterpieces to life.

Finally, thank you to our supportive families for encouraging their young musicians to shine. We were extremely lucky and appreciative to be accompanied by four past St Francis Xavier’s students - Elke Collins, Maddison Connole, Matilda Murphy and Dawson Anderson as well as Mrs Smith’s past student Chloe Large. Thank you also to our helpers Alice Freeman for assisting with percussion, Phil Davies on tuba and Rod Richie on drums.

Work Experience Students

We were excited to be joined by Narrabri High School students, Lily Bogdanoff and Jonty Brayshaw, who completed their Year 10 work experience at our school last week. They assisted our students with their classroom activities as well as helped Mrs Capp during Library lessons. Thank you Lily and Jonty for visiting St Francis Xavier’s and we wish them all the best.

George the Farmer Book Set

A big thank you to Rabobank and George the Farmer for joining forces and giving us the chance to win a George the Farmer package. This exciting resource allows our children to explore the wonderful aspects of farming, along with the challenges farmers face. Not only will it enhance their reading comprehension, but it will also teach them where some of their food comes from.

What a valuable and engaging learning experience.
