Magill Senior Band Performs at ABODA Festival
On Wednesday, the Magill Senior Band travelled to Westminster College to perform at this year’s ABODA Band Festival.
Our 38 Year 5/6 students performed three pieces under the expert leadership of Mr Nick Vladcoff.
The first piece, “Trumpet Voluntary,” is one of the best-known tunes from the Baroque era and was composed around 1700. It is commonly performed at wedding ceremonies and other formal events.
The second piece was the set work, “I Am Viking,” which depicts the strength and adventurous spirit of the Vikings as they set out to explore new lands.
Finally, the Magill Band performed the spirited “The Jester’s Galop,” a lively dance composition by Jack Wilds based on music by Czech composer Bedřich Smetana.
Well done to all our students for representing Magill so proudly, both on and off the stage, and for achieving a Bronze Award. Congratulations!
A special thank you to the parents and grandparents who were able to join us and experience this wonderful event with the band.
Finally, a huge thank you to our Leadership Team, teaching and support staff here at Magill for their continued guidance, support, organisation and encouragement.
We are incredibly proud of our Senior Band and their fantastic representation of Magill!
