Grandparents and Special Friends Day 2026

Thank you to everyone who helped make our Grandparents and Special Friends Day celebration such a wonderful experience. Our prayer liturgy provided an opportunity for us to gather as a faith community and celebrate the special relationships our students share with their grandparents, family members and special friends.

A special thank you to the families who shared photos for our slideshow presentation. The photos, accompanied by "You'll Be in My Heart," brought many smiles, hugs and a few tears as students and their special visitors shared these precious moments together.

There were also plenty of smiles, laughter and enthusiasm during the classroom activities. It was wonderful to see our students enjoying this special time with the important people in 

their lives. We are already looking forward to next year's celebration!

Feast of the Assumption of Mary into Heaven 

The Feast of the Assumption of Mary is held annually on 15 August. This important feast celebrates our Catholic belief that, at the end of her earthly life, Mary was taken up into Heaven, body and soul, to be with God. While Scripture does not record the details of Mary's death, early Christian traditions suggest that she may have lived her final years in Jerusalem or Ephesus, in present-day Turkey. Mary is honoured as the mother of Jesus and as a faithful disciple who responded to God's call with trust and courage. Her life reminds us of the importance of saying "yes" to God and showing faith, love and service to others. 

The Feast of the Assumption of Mary into Heaven is referred to as being a holy day of obligation. This means Catholics are encouraged to attend Mass to honour Mary.
